EIA and SEA

We provide an expert, bespoke, innovative and commercially minded approach to all aspects of EIA and SEA which minimize the risk of challenge or delay in the approval process.

Biodiversity and Environmental Management

We provide specialist biodiversity management services in relation to potential impacts from developmental activities. We identify ecological constraints through Phase I and II habitat assessments and design appropriate mitigation and coping strategies for the threatened habitat or species. We undertake all types of terrestrial and aquatic surveys including in the sensitive coastal and offshore regions of the barrier reef with special focus on protected areas, protected species and sensitive habitats. We advise developers and conservation managers on the condition of the habitats, stressors and limits of acceptable change and how these can be affected by development plans.

Due Diligence/Auditing

Nextera provides industry leading due diligence and compliance assessment to lenders, financiers and developers. We prioritize understanding of the environmental and social drivers to enable complex projects to reach satisfactory financial closure. On behalf of the client we work with contractors to minimize environmental damage and reduce client exposure to legal liabilities and costly remediation. Our auditing work is well informed, realistic and accurate and includes understanding of new regulations and appraisal of new technologies.

Climate Change and Renewable Energy

In an increasingly carbon constrained world, carbon management could have a real and limiting influence on future business viability and growth potential. We future proof our clients’ investments and potential liability by providing up to date advise on emerging climate trends, policies and regulations. We provide advice on effective means for climate change adaptation and mitigation which reduces future liabilities and constraints to further growth. We have extensive experience in the renewable energy sector with particular focus on wind energy development. We offer support from site selection through to stakeholder consultation, the production of Environmental Statements and the achievement of planning consent.
